UK drivers can’t cope without listening to music in their car and new research has revealed the nation’s favourite song.

The all time favourite driving song is Queen’s ‘I want to break free’, according to price comparison website confused.com. The sing-along classic was voted as the top driving tune in a poll of 2,000 motorists.

The research found that 53% of motorists say they just “couldn’t cope” without music in the car and wouldn’t think about buying a car without a stereo.

A further 34% of them claim that they would have to install one pretty quickly if the car did not come with such a device.

Over half of motorists like to sing along to music in the car, and 27% feel the urge to tap along to the beat with their hands or feet.

Whilst everyone seems to enjoy music in the car, it is important to consider the value of your stereo. Breakdown cover is another vital consideration should your vehicle let you down one day.

Gareth Kloet, Head of Car Insurance at Confused.com said; "Having music on in the car has grown into a modern tradition and while we would, of course, encourage all drivers to concentrate on the road, we like happy drivers who enjoy being in their cars.

“Just make sure to hide away your valuable music equipment when leaving your car as it can be an invitation to thieves."
